I’ve been remiss at blogging for lack of content over the last few days (sometimes months). However, when you are confined to the house, you go with the flow.
15 days ago, the first case of Corvid-19 was reported in Alabama. Today there are 641 confirmed cases and 3 deaths. Such a horrible thing to keep track of. This is much worse than the other epidemics I have seen in my 68 years on this planet, but we will survive.
Store shelves at Walmart are still strangely bare in areas. Bread has returned, but can goods are way behind. Interruption of the transport side of Walmart? What’s with the rush on Spaghetti sauce?
Get my fill of crazy

I’ve found things to do around the house. Thing is, it seems the more we clean, the more disorganized things look. Staying home isn’t so bad. I spent my life working with the public, so I’ve had my fill of rowdy crowds and crazy people. If I get to feeling the need for a refresher in how crazy people can be, I just go to Walmart to pick up an item, and get my fill of crazy. Of course, I only go when I need meds refilled. I’ve rearranged/organized my office to the point I can’t find anything.
At one point, I got really bored, and thought I would install Windows 10 on our spare laptop. Everything went well, until it became time for the next regular update. Needing windows to do something, I dug out the trusty laptop. It decided it was time to do an update. It took over an hour before it finished. So I took the opportunity to let Bones pose for a photo-op. He just hangs around in the closet, until I need him as a visual aid.

Then yesterday, apparently the lock-down insanity had a moment. I decided maybe a deep cleaning of the keyboard was in order. Especially since the “k” key was now randomly typing a 3. If you ever think it’s a good idea to do this, just let that thought go. After all that work, it still doesn’t work right.

How are you coping with home bound restrictions during this Pandammit (my new name for it). Share your story if you wish.
Comments always welcome,
Today I learned about Zoom. We have a game night with some friends once a month. It was canceled so one of the group suggested a chatfest on Zoom. We took it out for a dry run today and I like it better than Skype. We’ll see how it goes with the group.
I’ve heard of zoom, but haven’t tried it yet. Sounds like that could be the ticket to keep everyone having a good time, during this shut in.
LOL at your office assistant!
Taking more walks outside, just trying to take one moment at a time, and to keep smiling, for frowning isn’t real helpful. 🙂 I am still working part time too so not totally confined to the house.
No bones about it, he’s my main man! Keep smiling, share a smile through words, Joy. Stay as safe as possible while working. We want you here with us. Thanks so much, for the comment.
Haha!
Thanks Ron! You stay safe too. I do private duty taking care of an elderlh lady, doing my best to keep her well.
Other than worrying about running out of toilet paper, I’m doing fine. 🙂
That is great to hear, magick. I hope you can locate more. In the meantime, don’t shake hands with anyone. I hear there are some that are totally out of toilet paper. Ewww! I loved your post on the Tall People so much.
I hope Pete gets a look at this keyboard before he tries to fix the sticking W on his.
I just remembered that he said he was having trouble. Mine are made to be removed. The board can be washed in a dishwasher, but has to dry for several days. I’ve never done that. I think the circuit has gone out in mine.
The keys are removed easily, but putting them back on is a mess. You would think it could be done quickly by memory, but they didn’t take my memory into account.
Last time I took a keyboard apart, that wasn’t like this one, pieces just fell out everywhere, I never did get all the little rubber caps to sit still while I put the membrane back in place. I tossed it and bought another one. Great to see that smile this evening, Elizabeth.
who does memorize the keyboard?
I just want to thank you again Ron (and I have thanked you before) for making me laugh out loud. I needed that!
You are very welcome, Lara. It makes me feel better, when I know others feel better from my action/s.
You make me smile HUGE!
Zoom is fantastic! We just downloaded it a week ago, and then immediately had a lovely almost-two-hour ‘visit’ with my daughter, Kathryn. She lives here in Montreal too, but a real schlep away (2 buses and a subway ride), so this was great!
The second time I used Zoom, I was an ‘audience’ member for an ‘interactive’ improv comedy show. Too bad it was beyond childish, but I can see this format has wonderful possibilities!
That pic of your keyboard is scary! Lol, I imagine you putting it all back together but then having 3 or four parts (keys?!) left over! BTW, just be happy you don’t have a 12-year-old desktop like I do. Or… do you?
Bones – hahaha! He (she?) reminds me of a character in my now-ex-son-in-law’s novels, who goes by the name of Gladys; she consists of just a skull. She’s a very cranky office assistant for the main character who’s a detective. She has a vague eastern-European accent and uses bad language, which I won’t quote here since I don’t want you to ban me. 😀
I’m going to give zoom a try, Ellie.
I was going nuts, trying to get everything back in place. I didn’t have a piece left over, but did have a whole row offset by one space. When starting the number row, I forgot about the ~ key that starts the row. So I happily placed them all down, and found the empty key place then.
Gladys, sounds like a fun character. Bad language? As Bruce Willis said in a movie, “I speak two languages. English, and bad English.” Thanks for the fun comment Ellie. Stay well, stay safe.
Thanks, you too. ??
People have suggested things to fill time during lockdown. We are not going out to eat, so I’m the designated cook. I’m also the troubleshooter for electronics. Who has spare time to kill??? I want some!!!
I’m going to fill some time tonight, watching Svengoolie. I love the old B movies, and he gives some great history behind them and the cast. Tonight will be the classic “Children of the Damned”.
We are constantly resetting something, or checking a connection when the Internet connection hiccups. Tell them, you’re out to lunch. Get some time for yourself.
I take a nap most days, and that is quality time alone.
I was having trouble with my keyboard. Thank goodness I just bought a new one rather than try to take it apart. Zoom is great! It’s very simple and makes staying connected easier. Some friends of ours have coordinated a Zoom happy hour in a couple of days.
I’ll be shopping for me another one as well.
You have more patience than me, I would never tackle taking a keyboard apart. It is unfortunate it didn’t help.
My apologies, Kathy. For some reason (and I have changed no settings) WordPress keeps randomly placing regular posters in the spam folder. Only one each time, very aggravating. I’ll start checking it more often now. Thanks for the comment.
The keyboard hit home with me. No way am I going to try to fix my troublesome ‘W’ now! Thanks, Ron.
Best wishes, Pete.
Best of luck, Pete. I hope you get yours replaced. I enjoyed the illuminated keyboard. I’ll just replace it soon. I’m using a spare wireless at the moment. Thank for the comment.
