I’m trying to get back into the swing of blogging. I’ve been gone for a couple of months, and have missed everyone. Not only that, but I feel better health wise, and that has kept me occupied with projects around the home. Now that I am caught up, I can see more things around me.
I have stopped watching the news, just too much craziness, and stupidity, which I have never had a tolerance for. I keep up with just enough news to be informed, but not overloaded. For this weird Wednesday I’ll share a couple of crazy things I have noticed.
1. Since moving here, the neighbor two doors down, and on the opposite side of the street, are apparently true Southerners. If you’ve ever heard the comments by comedians about people in the south leaving up Christmas lights year round, then this is it. Their front porch is adorned with multicolored lights around the top and down the main front porch supports. They even flash. One has to wonder if this is a new version of security lights. Perhaps a would be intruder might think twice about breaking into, or messing around, a house where the occupants run Christmas lights year round. It’s the only house on the entire street with flashing Christmas lights.
2. It came to my attention this morning, that D.C. Comics has gone full “Woke”, Their new Superman character, will be “Bi-Sexual” and feature a scene of kissing his new “friend” who is a male reporter. There are times, lately, where one has to wonder if it’s safe to leave the house.
3. 150 miles to our south, in the Mobile, Alabama area. Recent heavy rain and flooding has driven alligators from the swamps into the nearby towns. They are reportedly wandering through yards, city streets and parking lots. A public warning has been issued in that area. Imagine going out to get the morning paper, and having to beat an alligator with a stick, to get there and back.
Anyway, I’m trying to swing back into the blogging saddle and visit everyone again. Now, I plan to paint this small house on the outside. Anyone that can paint a straight line is invited to come on down to the deep south, and help me. We’ll have BBQ on the grill!
That’s all for this morning, time to start a pot of tea, and then get on with the day.
Any Christmas lights in your neighborhood?
We do have a few individuals who never take their Christmas lights down, but at least they are turned off in the “off Season”!
Yes, I sit here in the mornings, if I have gotten up before daylight, and marvel at the blinking. They must be on a timer. I know some leave them up all year, but only turn them on during Christmas. Saves work I guess.
Love getting you back with a sense of humor I really appreciate. No Christmas lights here. Apparently people have decided to go overboard with Halloween stuff. Just passed a miniature hearse driven by a skeleton in someone’s front yard.
Thanks, Elizabeth, I missed your comment. The page had not been refreshed in my browser, so it had not appeared. I am hoping to find other material in this small place we have moved to. We’ve been here a year, and it’s time to get off my lazy rear, and do some blogging.
Absolutely. Looking forward to it.
Great to hear you are feeling better, and always a joy to see a blog post from you with news of more American ‘craziness’. They featured the alligator problems on the BBC news. We may get a lot of rain here, but at least we have no alligators!
Best wishes, Pete.
Wow! We made international news. I guess you could say, it is a problem that is nibbling at the residents in that area. We have some in this area, but they are rarely seen, unless you go to the river about 5 miles away. It feels great to be back among all of you.
Great to “see” you again, Ron! Love your tales of the nuttiness etc.! Careful with the alligators!!!
Great to be back, Ellie. I love the nuttiness as well. The alligators stay clear of me, I bite.
?
Glad to have you back with good news, Ron. I always look forward to your posts. You’d be safe in our neighborhood — no blinking Christmas lights.
They all seem to try to get a jump on Christmas around here. Walmart in our area, had Christmas items out at the end of September. Go figure.
Good grief! I was in Walmart here Tuesday and did not see Christmas decorations. We are awash in Halloween candy, which is appropriate.
Welcome back Ron! Good to see you. Definitely wouldn’t want to see an alligator when I walk out of my house. I much prefer seeing bunnies instead. 🙂
Well stores keep putting out Christmas stuff earlier and earlier so not surprised about lights being kept up year round.
We don’t watch the news either, at least very rarely!
I love bunnies. Sometimes I think the stores might leave Christmas items out all year, it wouldn’t surprise me at all. I have cut way back on my news intake, it’s the same old thing.
It wouldn’t surprise me at all if stores start to do that.
Not watching the news is much healthier for your blood pressure!
The world is definitely in a “crazy” state. If we don’t have somewhat of a sense of humor, we will all go crazy. 🙂
