Freaky Friday, reminds me of the movie “The Happening”.

I hope some of you have seen the movie “The Happening”. It would help you understand what it has felt like around here today. I have been relaxing and just playing on the computer most of the day.

I have a police scanner here on the desk, it helps me know if someone in the park has lost their marbles, then I know to lock my door.

The world around us has been crazy today.

  • This morning they had at least 2 emotionally disturbed (psychotic) people within 6 miles of us.
  • Then there was some 15 year old on his porch with a shotgun, threatening to commit suicide.
  • If that wasn’t enough, some man calls about 5 miles away, and reports that people renting a room from him are fighting, and he needs deputies to come out and control them, he can’t get his house cleaned up, while they are fighting. Now that’s weird!
  • Around lunch, someone is stabbed in the face and left chest. 6 miles away (as the crow flies). Domestic fight.
  • After lunch, someone’s ex-husband has shown up at the females house and fired a gun outside. He then comes in the house, woman and new boyfriend run out into the backyard. Ex eventually, at the sound of approaching sirens, takes off on foot, deputies catch him in the woods a short time later.
  • Then the worst one of the day, about 10 minutes ago, a high speed pursuit from town 7 miles to our south, comes all the way out here, passes the house, then goes back onto the county roads behind us. About 2 miles down the county road, they over-turn, ejecting the occupants (4). One of which, is a toddler. What kind of special idiot is a person that risks the life of a child running from the police. I just heard the life-flight helicopter overhead, that the medics had requested. I also heard the Chaplin responding to that scene.

Like I said, it reminded me of the movie. The plants were tired of humanity and decided it was time to thin it out. The plants were releasing some type of substance/pollen. You couldn’t see it or smell it, but people started acting crazy. It’s been all around us today. Nothing in the park though. Or is it waiting for tomorrow. (Cue scary music)

Comments always welcome, might want to toss a prayer in, for the little tyke in the vehicle wreck.

  1. I remember that film, Ron. Nature’s revenge.

It seems that you live in an area that ‘certain people’ congregate in. Those incidents must defy the law of averages, in such a short space of time.

But it does make me reflect on working for the police in London. When you listen to police radios and look at calls on a computer all day, you might be forgiven for thinking that it is an incredibly dangerous place to live. Yet 99.9% of the residents go about their routine everyday, oblivious of what’s happening; unharmed, and unconcerned too.

    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. You have a good point Pete, most don’t know, and don’t want to know what is around them. Many times, it is for the best. There is enough stress in this world. Thanks for the comment.

  2. There are idiots out there and they are allowed to procreate! About a year ago a toddler died in a hot car locally. The mom put him in the car for the dad to drop off at day care. Dad forget so he sat in a hot car all day while dad was at work. On one hand I can see how you can get preoccupied. On the other, it’s a kid for God’s sake! Certainly hope that child doesn’t go back to that wacko family.

  3. Mama me ya! Never a dull moment in your life, huh, Ron? Ha ha. I like what Daffy Duck says. ha ha. Did you see the NRA ad on Facebook today? Good one.
Have fun but stay safe and keep your doors locked. ha ha.

    1. Thanks Sandy, I didn’t see the NRA ad. It was probably a good one. I’m glad, that as a kid, I was able to live in a time when you could leave your doors unlocked. Those were good times to grow up in.

    1. We’ve had home invasions out this way, mostly because it is out away from any quick law-enforcement response. Funny thing, it seems to happen in the early hours around 6-7 am. We always stay safe as possible.

  4. Good grief! (slowly catching up with humongous amount of posts! Ay yi!) Was it a full moon? Sounds like full-moon behaviour though, doesn’t it? Scary stuff!

BTW I’m curious, are you allowed to have a police scanner cause you once were that kinda guy? Here in Canada I’m pretty sure they’re illegal for an ordinary citizen to have. Kind of in the same class as those gizmos for the car that can block radar scans so they can’t tell if you’re speeding.

    1. Hi, Ellie. I have been trying to catch up on reading some blogs, but things have been busy with honey-do list.

Police scanners are legal here, unless you use one in the commission of a crime. Radar Detectors (laser now days) are legal. If I stopped someone for speeding, and they had one, they definitely received a citation. I figured if they sped so much, that they had to pay money to keep from being caught, they didn’t deserve just a warning.
      Thanks for the comment!
