For those that have forgotten, the new Gutenberg Editor will be in the next major release of WordPress. I did a short post, and a boring video about it in February of this year. Since that time, many improvements have been made in the editor. 6 months ago, inserting an image and wrapping text around it, was challenging. Now it is easier and more reliable than the standard editor. At least to me.
For dressing up your posts
I am actually creating this post using the new editor. I like the workflow and location of items you may need while writing. Tags appear in a drop down list as you start to type. For dressing up your posts, colors, sizes and other options are readily available.
Start thinking in “blocks”. Everything is arranged by blocks. You can move them, change what they contain etc. You can even save a block for reuse later.

The gallery feature is falling down simple to use. I have been needing this. The plugin that I used, was forever pestering me to upgrade constantly.

Being an old stick in the mud, I always fear technology changes, and anything that makes it harder for me to understand how to use the blogging platform. But you seem to regard it as an improvement, and I know that you are good with computers so respect your conclusions.

I had no idea about this, Ron, so thanks. Where on WordPress do I find the new editor?
My apologies for missing your question Mala. I can truly be scatter-brained at times.
Supposedly, the new editor will be released as a core part of WordPress 5.0, to be released sometime this year. They won’t give a firm date yet, although I have heard it should be this month.
I get updates about this from another blog I follow but don’t know if it will install automatically or if we have to agree to update. Please let me know.
From what I gather, it will install as the default editor when they release 5.0 There “may” be a plug in to allow the old editor, I don’t recall. But the default editor, will be Gutenberg.
Has this happened yet? I haven’t noticed anything different.
