Missing in action, but I’m back, and on track with new keyboard.

So much going on around the house that I have neglected blogging the last 3 days or so. I read those I follow and respond where possible, but there has been little time to sit down and blog anything interesting.

Michelle became ill with bronchitis and they are running tests, so that has kept me preoccupied. We also have a litter of 13 puppies, if I have not mentioned that before. They are growing like weeds.

I had to purchase a new keyboard, many of you know how I love gadgets. Nothing beats relaxing and keeping the lights down where possible. I like to look out the window as it is getting daylight, and at evening time, without everyone seeing me plainly. I had another keyboard that I purchased 7 months ago.

It was illuminated with a soft blue glow under the keys. The light was just right for some low level situations, but difficult to see most of the time. Plus on my Linux computer the keyboard light button did not work. I had to make a small program to light the keyboard on boot-up.

I found this AULA (A-ul-la) keyboard/mouse combo on Amazon. For $29 it has 3 colors, with 2 levels of intensity. Even the low setting is easy to see here at the desk with the room lights on, or the shades open and daylight/sun. It also came with a nice gaming mouse and free shipping! It types really well and I am a stickler for good keyboard typing.

The plus side to this keyboard, is the illumination is controlled by the keys on the keypad, not through the computer. So as long as it is plugged into a USB, you have control of the lights.

Here is a video I did in a hurry the other day. Nothing beats seeing it in real life action. This is daytime, in front of the window with the curtain open. So you can see the actual lighting. Hope you enjoy. Of course Reboot had to check it out also while I was trying to video.

Things are settling down and the grass needs mowing after all the rain. Time for me to start enjoying the Blog more. Have a great Friday!

  1. Hey Ron! (and Reboot!)

That’s quite the keyboard – I don’t know if I’d be comfortable with the “breathing” feature – a little too lifelike for me!

But a good deal with the mouse and who doesn’t love free shipping!

    Best wishes with the pups!

  2. I didn’t know they had keyboards that light up. Sometimes I don’t want the glare of the overhead lights. Sounds like this is a good choice although that mouse is very intimidating.

    1. It’s nice, and like you I don;t like a lot of light at certain times of the day. I prefer the natural window like when it is available. I only use the regular buttons (left, right and scroll). It does have a nice small button where I can switch how fast the cursor moves without having to go in the mouse settings. Also there is a button that is a “double click” button, but that is redundant as you could just set things to open with one click.
      Thanks for the comment Kate.

  3. Enjoy your new keyboard Ron. Hoping Michelle a good recovery.

Those 13  puppies sound like a lot of fun. ?

    1. Thanks Brigid, I hope she gets to feeling better soon also. The pups are a job feeding them right now twice a day. They are getting too mobile to control.

  4. I hope Michelle responds well to treatment for the bronchitis. They are wise to rule out something else. Stay well yourself. Last year my husband and I were both sick for 10 days and it was not a pretty picture! I love tech too. My latest is an app for my phone that allows me to take pictures of old photos and then edit them.

    1. Thanks Elizabeth. She has the cough, and she has some other indicators of a bleeding ulcer. Being sick is no fun, especially for 10 days! Bless your heart. Enjoy that new app, there are so many neat ones that are helpful.

  5. Been lax on the blogging also, CT for 5 days last week, got the lawn cut and Ben (dog) neutered, poor guy. Company coming in today for a free room while traveling S to NC. Have a great weekend brother of the thin blue line.

  6. After I read that there were 13 new puppies in your household, nothing else that you wrote registered in my brain. 13 puppies???!!! From one mother? Do you have plans to adopt them out, or do you plan to build a new wing on to your trailer?

    1. 13 from one mother. I think the record for a Shepard is 15. We already have people clamoring for them. We used to breed Great Danes some years ago.

  7. Ron, nice to hear your voice! 🙂

Hope Michelle gets better really soon! I’ve had bronchitis myself and know how miserable it is.

Re your psychedelic keyboard! Wow! It’s ALIVE! Heh, as another commenter also said, it’s a tad too lifelike for my taste! But I can see you’re a gadgety kind of person. I also see your kitty takes after you! And don’t they love to inspect any new thing that comes into the house?!

Puppies! You lucky dog! Er…  Enjoy ’em while they last!

    1. Michelle is doing better so far. I do love gadgets. Reboot inspects anything coming into her office. Great to see you today. Now you know what I sound like.

  8. Nice to have you back!  Sorry to hear about your wife, I hope she is feeling much better very soon!

THIRTEEN!That’s one heck of a litter!  Enjoy the madness!

Hope you have a wonderful Friday evening and a terrific weekend!

  9. Welcome back! Sorry to hear about Michelle, hope she us on the mend. 13 puppies??? What kind? That keyboard looks pretty good. We have had so much rain here in SC the grass has been growing like crazy! Glad you’re back

    1. Thanks Robyn, German Shepard puppies. I’m enjoying the keyboard, I can sit here in the early morning with just a little light from the breaking dawn coming in the window, I can still see the keyboard. Thanks for the comment.
