I had inherited the wife’s HP touchpad tablet from her and I had removed Web OS and installed Cyanogen. I installed several apps that I wanted and then it dawned on me that I had set the tablet up under my phone account.
I needed a way to change the default account without having to do a factory reset and reinstall all those apps. Online searches led me to instructions on how to do it, but the path to the accounts.db file that needed to be deleted were not correct. Here is how I managed to find that file after much searching through the system files.Your Tablet has to be running some type of rooted OS such as Cyanogen.
- You will need to download a free app such as File Explorer (Root).
- Once you have that app then navigate (at least I found it in this location on my Tablet running Cyanogen) to Root/data/system/users/0
- Once there delete the accounts.db file and reboot.
- Open anything that needs an account such as PlayStore and enter the account you wish to be your default account for the tablet.
I hope this helps anyone having difficulty locating the accounts.db like I did. It was not not having to reinstall everything by hand.
