Thanks for any input.

I have missed blogging the last few days. With several distractions taking up most of each day, thoughts and ideas for posts just seemed to elude me. I also was trying very hard to fine tune my hosting, in attempts to shave every second possible off the loading time.

I would appreciate it if you could let me know how the loading time is for you. I realize there are a myriad of variables that can affect it, but I don’t always trust the testing software. If you would leave a comment and let me know if the loading for you is average, slow, or very slow, I would appreciate it.

I want to thank all of you for the visits, and the support you show. Bloggers are truly a great community of people. I enjoy the interaction with others. Now, it’s time for me to get busy.

Comments welcome,

Are your comments being marked as Spam?

I know I have seen this mentioned on another blog. Your followers comments going to the spam folder instead of your post. Or, your comments not showing up on other blogs.  I found 4 legitimate comments in my spam folder this evening.

More than likely their comments or yours have been marked by Askimet as spam. I was unaware of this and I am guilty of some practices that might get me marked as spam. This is an excellent post on the problem. It contains other links with very useful information. Check this article for possible solution if you are marked as spam.

As I said, I am guilty of some bad methods mentioned. I thought it was being friendly but apparently short comments, and certain words in your comment, can cause you to be marked by Askimet as spam.

I suggest checking your Spam folder from time to time for legitimate comments. It’s a little more work, but it prevents us from missing friends, that might have been dumped in there. If you have comments you make not showing up on your friends blogs, contact them (perhaps by email) and ask them if you might have been sent to the spam folder.

Sunday Summary

The picture I snapped this evening at 7pm, as dusk was setting in, almost looks like someone turned a light on in the clouds. Probably a very water saturated area of clouds reflecting the sun’s light as it set.

I was lazy today even though the weather was perfect to have cut the grass. Something about it just didn’t beckon hard enough. As a precaution, I avoided any of Michelle’s household power-tools. It would be wise to steer clear of them for a while. Many of you may remember my post last month, “Men should NOT use household power tools.” It probably would be wiser I thought, to not start the first week of April with too much excitement. I did get around to upgrading my hosting plan to better handle the blog.

So things are quiet here today. Just the female Shepherd (Midnight) doing her usual thing of intently watching Reboot. I’ll explain that at a later time. It may get lively later as some severe storms move into our area.

I sincerely hope everyone had an uneventful weekend if that is what you were going for. I want to thank all of you for coming and visiting, I appreciate each one of you and thank you for the support you have shown.

Comment ‘Likes’

Many blogging veterans may already be aware of the differences in WordPress hosted  and self-hosted WordPress sites. There are a couple of things self-hosted sites can’t do just yet.

I appreciate each one of you. Your likes and comments make my entire day. It’s not about statistics, it’s about seeing what people enjoy and that helps me learn.

If I ever miss “liking” a comment you leave, please know it is certainly unintentional. My Blog is “self hosted” and so far WordPress does not have “comment like” functionality for the self hosted sites. So no button appears on my blog for liking the comments. The only “like” button is the one for the post itself. Thank you all for using it.

I can “like” your comments you leave here from the WordPress Reader, but not from my blog. If I miss liking one of your comments in the reader, please know it is not intentional.

Comments always welcome,
