I must be cursed when it comes to the US Mail Service. The service really was horrid in town, now that I am in the country I still have problems with the postal service.

I ordered an Antenna for my radio, it doesn’t fit in my mail box which is located with about 16 other boxes about 75 feet from us in sight of my office window. The item does not require a signature so I assumed it would be left on the porch or a knock on the door.  The antenna didn’t arrive and tracking said “at post office”.

I call to find out that some long time back one of the carriers had a problem with a resident in the park (they didn’t say what) and they had deemed it unsafe to deliver packages to the entire park based on that one incident. So I have to drive 4 miles to the post office whenever I get a package that does not fit in the standard mailbox.

While I think the people at the post office are polite and helpful, I still see it as a convenient excuse not to have to do their job of getting out of the vehicle and bringing your package to the door/porch. Not handling packages saves them time and they can finish earlier, but they are supposed to deliver. I found out the USPS can deem a place unsafe based on crazy things, from trash in the yard to mosquitoes that are too big.

It just seems I’m cursed with the USPS and getting things I order delivered easily. I might give the post master general a call, but based on everything I have encountered I imagine it will fall on deaf ears. At least at this point we are not getting someone else’s mail. Our last residence we continually got mail for others that had lived there 3 years prior, even though I taped a large note in the mail box not to deliver except for our name as instructed by the post office.
