When the Repo Man needs saving. (Trailerhood Tales)

Well, it would seem our little park may be waking up. The rougher element may be creeping back into the area. Some people keep their cool better than others, and some excel in showing their rough redneck side. No offense to true rednecks that work hard. In this area of the south, it refers to rednecks that work when they have too, drink as much as possible, and generally don’t need rules to go by.

I feel sorry for those that have trouble finding work, or can’t do any better due to other factors holding them down. Heck, truth be know, I’m probably a few shingles shy of being in a bad spot myself. Some people, maybe because of the stress of what they are dealing with, just seem to forget other people and don’t consider that making noise at 2am might disturb others, that have to work, or may be sick.

I was shaken from my slumber by the dogs barking a few nights ago. Seems someone had broken down in front of our place. Slamming vehicle doors, talking loudly even though they were standing next to one another, and the loud sound of a hood being closed forcefully will do that. Apparently someone leaving the park had vehicle trouble, and had to call someone to assist them. They also really need a muffler as a Christmas present.

Then, the next morning at 4am the same vehicle breaks down on the way “into” the park, you guessed it, right in front of our house. This time they abandon the vehicle and leave talking or arguing loudly.

Yesterday, I hear a call to the county sheriff, regarding a Repo Man trying to repossess a vehicle on the back row. He was being threatened by the current owner of said vehicle. He told the dispatcher he would meet the deputies at the Dollar General just down the street. About 1 minute later, a call goes out, that the repo man can’t meet them at the Dollar General, as he is not being allowed to leave by the person he is dealing with. I started to walk around that way to see if there was any video worth catching, but decided I didn’t need any ventilation added to my body, if things really got worse.

I never did hear how it turned out. Obviously this person wasn’t going to give up his unpaid for vehicle, and had done his own Repo, of the repo man. Have you ever had the great pleasure of witnessing this stuff?

Comments, always welcome.

    1. Okay, wordpress is acting goofy once again. I know I responded to all of these comments.
Thanks, Janis. The problem, is the nuts with guns that shouldn’t have them.

  1. In Britain, the Repo Man is called a Bailiff. He has to execute a court order to recover debts, including vehicles or possessions to their value. When I worked for the police in London, we were called out numerous times a day to assist those Bailiffs when they were being threatened, or detained against their will by irate debtors. The code for the call was BOP, which was simply short for ‘Breach of the peace’. Luckily, they almost never involved the use of firearms.
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. The problem here, is the wrong people have the guns. Idiots, and criminals. There are many laws prohibiting them, but as you know. No matter the law, the nuts, and criminals will have guns no matter what.
Thanks for the comment, Pete. I’m having issues once again with my comments disappearing.

  2. I’ve never seen the Repo Man paying a visit, but I rounded the corner one time to see a rental home and the tenant’s possessions were strewn from one end of the front yard to the other. It was a large home and they had a lot of stuff! I really didn’t “get” why, if they were evicted, their possessions were not piled neatly and instead looked like a cyclone roared through.

    1. Sometimes the landlords do it, as an act of revenge. I’ve seen them do that, and the people have a couple of days to come get it, and then the landlord has it hauled off.

        1. I agree, Linda. Emotions run high with some of these cases. It can take 6-8 months sometimes to get a non-payer out. Then you have all the damage to repair. I think even though the landlord might be upset, strewing belongings all over the yard, should be a violation of some sort. In our state (for the most part), if the sheriff comes out to evict people. The belongings are placed out on the curb, where the people can come collect them within a reasonable time, and not be entering the property.

          1. We had a barricaded tenant case last year – angry with the landlord and holed up in his apartment or house. I don’t recall now. We have many barricaded gunmen situations here in the Detroit area. Unbelievable Tuesday this week we had two different situations, one took two hostages and it lasted 27 hours and he committed suicide after both hostages got away when he fell asleep. The second barricaded gunman just had a standoff for 7 or 8 years then took his own life. I’m happy to go out to the Park and do as few errands as possible out in public. I am sure you are thankful every day that you are retired and not still on the force in this day and age.

            1. People are getting absolutely crazy now days, Linda. I’m glad I am not in the profession anymore. I still dream about it often, but I just wouldn’t want the headaches with what they have you put up with from people now.

              1. I agree with you Ron, yet in Detroit, they have graduated several groups of new officers from the Police Academy just in the last few months. They are always recruiting in Detroit, yet the suburbs are having difficulty recruiting police officers – I would think it would be the opposite and being a police officer in Detroit would seem to be worse.

  3. I have an old shirt from back in the Days in the Blue. A picture of a S&W 357 with the words ” You have the right to remain silent, FOR EVER”under the Smith. Would be a nice flag for your property. B Safe.

  4. Thanks, Lee. That would make a great flag. Nearly every place out here has no trespassing signs, and private property. I suppose they think they work, like the no guns signs. 🙂

  5. Here in Canada he’s also called a Bailiff. Never saw them in action, either. BTW, is there such a thing as a Repo Woman? 😀 My boyfriend and I just started watching a new TV series called Love Fraud, and it features a tough-talkin’ female bounty hunter, on the trail of this guy who romances a lot of women and then dupes them out of a lot of money! We’re addicted to this show, I swear!

  6. That is probably a good show. I actually used to enjoy when I worked with the State Mental Health and had to help track down, and return escaped patients, or those that had been recommitted.
